About the Stanwell 9mm filter and alternative insert. Specific Stanwell pipes (not all) are supplied with both 9mm disposable filter to fit the stem and an insert instead of a filter. My preference is the insert but 9mm filters are readily available. (This photo shows the insert fitted).

TIP: Once you place the insert in the end of the stem (instead of a filter) it is easy to remove. If a pipe cleaner doesn't push it out... I used a paperclip with a very small hook to gently slide it out.
