Peterson

A quality pipe is something to be treasured and enjoyed for many years. Ted personally selects each pipe based on it’s unique character and charm. Most bent shapes will distribute weight better than a straight shape but a good straight shape can still be very comfy and a pleasure. You will receive the actual pipe in the photos unless 2 people 'add to basket' at the same time. If a pipe is sold, similar may be on hand or available by request. Calls welcome.

Peterson logo Peterson of Dublin. Established 1865.

Peterson’s history dates to Dublin 1865. The brothers Friedrich and Heinrich Kapp opened their Dublin shop, ‘Kapp Brothers’, soon known for the quality pipes they made and sold. This led Charles Peterson to approach the brothers armed with a revolutionary pipe and ambitious plans. This was the beginning of their partnership and the Dublin shop renamed Kapp & Peterson.

Peterson's reputation for fine craftsmanship continues today.

Peterson System

The Peterson "System" Pipe

Often imitated but never equalled. The Peterson System smokes dry, cool and sweet due to the scientific effectiveness of the original design. The unique graduated bore in the stem results in all the moisture flowing into the reservoir and not the smoker's mouth.

Peterson's System stems are made from sturdy vulcanite and tapered to fit with a quarter twist. This means they are more forgiving than a traditional fitted stem.

P Lip The Peterson Lip (bite)

The Peterson Lip further enhances the effectiveness of the graduated bore by directing the flow of smoke upwards and away from the tongue. This achieves an even distribution of smoke and virtually eliminates any chance of tongue-bite or bitterness. The shape is contoured so the tongue rests comfortably in the depression under the opening. The stem is made from quality vulcanite.

Peterson Hallmark Peterson Hallmarks

In addition to the Peterson name and words 'sterling silver',
all Peterson silver mounted pipes carry three distinguishing marks.

1. The symbol of 'Hibernia' (Ireland), the country of manufacture.
2. The Crowned Harp is the fineness mark denoting the high quality (purity) of the silver used
3. The Date Letter Code for the year in which the silver was hallmarked and the pipe made.
